Funk Avy is Manila’s top Dj/Producer/Remixer and branded as Philippines “King of Mash-Up & Electro”. He started honing his skills at the legendary Kemistry in Malate and later became the resident Dj in Club Centro (Libis) and Club Halo (Makati) spinning house to techno, playing live electronica, mixing effects into his sets, incorporating samples, drum machines and the art of turntablism. His “We Love Manila” E.P. was signed by French label Fusion Recordings in 2005, making him one of the first Filipinos to be signed by a foreign record label. His original productions have come out in several compilations released internationally such as Fashion TV Winter Session 05/06, Fashion House and the Best of Mega Techno. Funk Avy’s recent release under the label “BLANCO Y NEGRO” is a remix of SNOOP DOGG & AKON’s new track “I’M DAYDREAMING” and is now available worldwide. To add to his numerous achievements, Funk Avy has played opening/closing sets for top international Djs/Acts like Steve Aoki, Bassjackers, Kaskade, Stonebridge, LMFAO, Laidback Luke, Bad Boy Bill, Sandy Rivera a.k.a Kings of Tomorrow, Michael Gray, Mark Doyle, Chicane & Kevin Saunderson. Locally, he has worked with & remixed popular artists like SomedayDream, Kjwan, Pedicab, Amber Davis, Sinosikat, Taken by Cars, Chino David, Project 1, Drip, Medwin Marfil of True Faith, Radha, Rico Blanco and many more. Funk Avy also penetrated television being the resident dj of GMA 7’s Sunday noontime show Party Pilipinas. He is also a proud partner of the country’s only Ice Bar, IMPERIAL ICE BAR at the Fort.
